Special Called Meeting Cleveland Town Board 6-21-2022 - New Code Officer Position
The meeting started at 4:35 with Mayor Pro Tem Travis Summit presiding. Opening business was closed session to discuss personnel issues.Closed session lasted seven minutes,
Changes were made to police department hours with the pay period to go to 84 hours and changes to holidays as written/presented (closed session). Commissioners noted that the pay period was really just a bookkeeping step.
Commissioners approved creating a new position at the police department which would include enforcement of codes as part of the job duties. This has been discussed at previous meetings. Currently the town has codes but does not have a real system for enforcement. The town clerk is tasked with notifying residents if/when she is made aware of a violation, so the system is informal at the moment.
Other business included approving finances:
Richard Taylor moved to approve budget changes with Danny Gabriel seconding. Gabriel said that some funds were moved around to balance the budget.
Taylor also moved and Gabriel seconded paying $711.57 to Stoner/Rip Rap for work on the Eagle Scout project at the town park. The project involved work done on the nature trail in the woods.
Commissioner Gerald Osborne noted that two new houses are being built on N. Depot St. Town employees thought the pipe there was 2 inches, but it only 3/4 inches. So, the town will need to replace water lines and add a hydrant which requires a six inch pipe. Town employees can probably do the job, but it will depend on the scope. Three more houses may go in on that street which may impact on water line decisions. Osborne said that no action was required at this meeting, but he wanted commissioners to know what was coming up soon.
The special meeting ended at 4:48 so total time was less than 15 minutes.
